DAT and Real Women in Trucking — an organization committed to helping women in the trucking industry, while promoting safety and training, and raising awareness of violence against women — are proud to support the mission of Samaritan’s Feet to deliver shoes to children in need around the world.
Desiree Wood, president of Real Women in Trucking, met Manny Ohonme, founder of Samaritan’s Feet, and learned about their mission to bring 10 million pairs of shoes to 10 million children worldwide in 10 years. Manny expressed their need for logistical help in moving loads of donated goods. As the number of shoes collected for kids has grown, so have the logistical challenges of transporting these shoes.
Desiree introduced DAT to Samaritan’s Feet in order to connect trucking companies with the organization, and DAT is helping connect trucking companies with Samaritan’s Feet by posting “Loads of Shoes for Charity” on DAT Load Boards. Samaritan’s Feet needs to move shoe donations, and they need help finding truckload and LTL carriers to move these shoes from donors around the country to their location in Charlotte, NC, and elsewhere.
How you can help: This is a charitable opportunity for trucking companies in the DAT Extended Network to volunteer to move truckloads of shoes to support Samaritan’s Feet and transform children’s lives.
