In their own words:

Fruition Logistics is a full-service, third-party logistics provider that specializes in offering a wide array of transportation and logistics services to facilitate the movement of freight from origin to destination. We are fully licensed and bonded with the U.S. DOT as a transportation broker. We have grown to become asset based with a fleet of trucks and will be opening a cold storage facility later this year.

From our headquarters in Chicago, Fruition Logistics serves the entire U.S., with strong partnerships in regions across the country to facilitate the movement of freight. Specializing in temperature-controlled transportation for both full (FTL) and less-than-truckloads (LTL), we make sure every load arrives safely and on time. Since 72% of food in our grocery stores is brought by truck, we as an industry should ensure that our supply chain is as efficient as possible.

Our commitment extends far beyond the successful delivery of cargo, as does our company vision for what a third-party logistics company should be. We see ourselves as a partner with our customers, building long standing relationships and relying on one
another to grow together.

When was the brokerage founded, and what prompted you to start?

2014, My goal is to help people — shippers, carriers, businesses and individual families. I truly believe that we must care for each other. By facilitating the movement of freight efficiently, we are connecting our customers all across the country. Overall, my goal is to transform the logistics industry by incorporating new technology and integrating various roles to collaborate and advance the industry.

What type of brokerage model do you operate?

Ours is a hybrid model: We combine elements from niche to traditional. We use technology to supplement our services and our sales team works with our dispatch team to find the best solutions for our partners.

Does the brokerage specialize in specific freight types or markets?

We’re an asset-based, full service 3PL. We do temperature-controlled, LTL, food-grade CPG – all of it. There’s a high demand and low capacity for most of this. We partner with growing companies to get their products on shelves across the country
efficiently and cost effectively.

What products are essential to the day-to-day operations of the brokerage?

We’ve got a full suite over here: CarrierWatch, RateView, Market Conditions Map (Index), Truck Search, Post Loads, Workgroups. We believe using technology is essential to providing premium service.

What did DAT simplify or make easier for your brokerage?

DAT has helped us in our consolidation of products and services, sourcing capacity, and evaluating market conditions.

By having the ability to source real time capacity, it has allowed us to stay competitive under dynamic market conditions, providing value to our company.

More specifically, tools like RateView keep us informed on market trends. It immensely helps while searching for capacity. Market Trends – it’s a nice bird’s eye view on the market and predicting potential shifts.

We are currently using DAT Tracking (OnTime), which has been instrumental to our visibility and tracking of freight across the board. With that, we are very excited to explore the new offerings that the Trucker Tool’s acquisition can provide in regards to making sure we know exactly where our freight is during transit.

What are the greatest challenges facing the freight or brokerage industry?

Fraud, communication, and rising costs. These challenges aren’t unique to our brokerage or the industry. Our hope is that by partnering with technology providers like DAT we’re able to mitigate as much of this risk as possible.

What are some short-term or long-term business goals?

We are acquiring a cold storage facility in proximity to O’Hare airport this year and will be offering a wider array of services, increasing our customer base and diversifying our portfolio along with our services.

It is exciting to unfold new capabilities and technology as the industry keeps changing, it is a great time to be growing in the logistics market and experience the changes firsthand. DAT has been a good resource for us and we received great feedback and tools during DATCON24 in Kansas City (and we’re excited for the 2025 meeting).

We’re looking forward to learning more about the new security enhancements and carrier management suite that were presented at DATCON.
